February 16: 10 songs I wish that were books
This week is all about music & books. I love listening to music almost as much as I love reading books. I have always wanted to play an instrument but sadly, with my carpel tunnel, the violin that I have is sitting here rotting. I decided to give it to my niece for her 8th birthday so at least it gets some good use and stops depressing me! Until I can play something, I love listening. Especially if the music has a great crescendo!
Pompei by Bastille: Basically anything from Bastille. I love, love, love them! Although I guess there is a complete story behind this particular song already, or at least the title. But to have a real story in a book that was about this fabulous song, I would read it in an instant!
Another fabulous but deep song is Lover of the Light by Mumford and Sons:
Mumford & Sons is like another Bastille in this house. I can listen to these two bands ALL day long! The Cave is one that has been out for a while but there is just something about it that I love so I listen to it all the time.
Quintessence! This is in the Walter Mitty movie and I am in love with it. I honestly love the entire soundtrack. It’s great and makes me feel so dang happy about life! Which is wonderful considering I read some pretty dreary books! Maybe it is also that this coincides with the end of the movie, which just makes me want to jump and and dance. I love it!
Uma Thurman by Fall Out Boy! I do not listen to the radio often, just play lists and Amazon Prime Music, so it is rare when I get to hear new songs. Recently I visited my sister and her kids in Cali and the music stations there freaking rock! Every time this song came on I turned it UP! I cannot stop dancing when I hear this song! Although I didn’t dance much when I was driving, so don’t worry Californians. 😉 The fact that it has the theme to The Adams Family makes me so happy!
Come Together by the Beatles. The lyrics in this are crazy! What would the book even be about?
A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum. I’ll let these lyrics speak for themselves. They are amazing.
The Doors: Riders on the Storm. The music, the lyrics! Amazing.
Nine Inch Nail’s Hurt… although this was originally written by Johnny Cash. I had no idea until I started looking up the lyrics. I was appalled because I normally listen to rock, like Rock Rock or at least Pop Folk Indie! Still, I have to give credit where credit is due. This freaking song rocks.
Bohemian Rhapsody! Because! BECAUSE!!!
What songs would you love to see recreated?
