This is a new meme hosted by Sugar & Snark. It came about when Sugar was wondering which cover to use for her #70 Cover of the Week post. Sugar kept on thinking of more than one, and they all seemed to have a theme/characteristic. So she decided to switch things up a bit!
Each week we will post a characteristic and choose 5 of our favorite covers with that characteristic. If you want to join in and share your 5 favorite covers with the weeks particular characteristic, then just make a post, grab the meme picture (or make your own) and leave your URL in Linky (so we can visit).
At first I had a hard time with this one. Then I went to Goodreads Lists, of course, and found tons upon tons of books with some form of writing utensils! Then the hardest thing was decided which I liked the best.
First I have to mention a favorite that actually is Sumi, although it doesn’t quite fit the challenge as this is done with a brush, but it is just too lovely not to share!
The actual winners this week! I love the pen on the Franz Kafka! I found a lot of covers that were similar in the older books. I didn’t see many PEN covers that I liked, sadly. The pencil covers were the ones that really got me. Especially if the font looks like it was written in pencil. I just love that!
3. Crunch Time
I really love this one. I think it hits the challenge and I love the font! For this one, I sort of have a tie because I’m really in between these two. Although the artistic feel of The Art of the Novel squeaked it out for me. But, still they’re close.
And the winner is:
What are your top five with pens/pencils on the cover?
