Happy Birthday Baby Girl!
My baby girl turned 26! Sadly, this girl is way too busy to visit, but we both understand how life can be. I just love how much she’s grown! This beautiful young woman has made my life better in so many ways. I’m a young mom, so I’ve made plenty of mistakes, but she accepts me for who I am.
It’s also funny that she seems to teach me more than I can teach her. She’s fantastic about looking things up, learning, and then sharing that knowledge, or recipes, or books. Especially about things that are good for us. We talk and my husband runs and hides because he can’t keep up with our conversations, and sometimes we don’t even have to talk because there is another form of communication that happens (when we’re on the same wavelength, that is!), and it’s beautiful.
Even when she’s mad at me, which isn’t often, she is a great communicator and let’s me know exactly how she feels. We took a road trip a few years back and had to drive 20 hours together. We only got aggravated with each other twice!
This girl… she’s my heart. She’s kept me sane, even when I sometimes feel like I’ve not been the best mother in the world. She’s my baby, even though she’s 26 now! I could go on and on about how proud I am to be her mom, to even just know her! She’s brilliant, and kind, and lovely. And oh my goodness, she’s grown! Time flies!
Us at Disney last year! I bought a T-shirt to prove that I rode The Tower of Terror. I hate that ride!
World of Warcrafting!
Like I talked about last week, my February has been a bit strange. I’m not really beating myself up over it. I’ve listened to a few good audio books, and I’ve really enjoyed my time playing World of Warcraft.
Funnily enough, my wrist is letting me know just how much I enjoyed playing. Last week it started aching at 3 am! That’s when I know I’ve taken this gaming thing a bit too far and it’s time to pull back a little. At least until my wrist says I can play again. I DID get my gal up to 110 and got the coveted armor for the Void Elves! My only problem is that the bra is the part that shows the wings, so like most games, I have to show half my body in order to have the prettiest part. Ugh! A friend recommended wearing a tabard to cover my boobs and it worked! I can now prance around and not feel like I’m showing my body!
The pups have not liked the fact that I’ve been gaming. I sat on the couch yesterday, while resting my wrist, and opened a book, just to get three pups in my face! Obviously I’m going to read a bit more this week than the last four combined! But only after I get some room on my lap!
I have heard that Annihilation was fantastic and SCARY! So I’m going to read that and Unsub and hopefully get to one or two more, but after this month, I’m not going to push it.
Books I purchased or received through Netgalley:
On our way to see The Black Panther, we had to stop into B&N. I can’t help myself. Too many books are already on my TBR and yet I told my hubby I was in the mood for horror and I forgot my Unsub book at home. So, we stopped by the Stephen King section and picked up Mr. Mercedes, FINALLY! I also randomly saw Dead On Arrival by Matt Richtel. So, I picked up both! The first pages of DoA were fantastic but then the movie started 😀
And Netgalley is sending me back down the rabbit hole. I’m so picky with my reads now, that I almost forgive myself for giving my TBR more. These sound fantastic and all right up my alley.
Coming up in February!
Don’t forget about this cute challenge! I haven’t even participated yet…. life is so hard!
