~ It’s a chance to share news~

A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

There were so many great books this year! I did not even get to many that I wanted to! I am just shy of 250 read but I think I’m going to revise my goals for next year. I’m hoping to read more for myself and authors and less for tours. I missed out on so many books that I wanted to read because my schedule was chock full of way too many books already. Plus my schedule this past year was just too much with school. So, for 2015 I’m committing to just a few things…

  • Horror Mondays!
  • Terry Pratchett Tuesdays
  • Moment of Zen Wednesday
  • Cat Thursday

And that is it! This way I’ll be able to actually read books I want to read, not just those I’ve obligated myself to read! Amazing!!! (I hope).

But… it’s still 2014. So let’s talk about… Etiquette

Best of the Best:

Finishing School Series by Gail Carriger

A Gift of Ghosts by Sarah Wynde

Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

If Only by A. J. Pine

Surprised Me:

Forgive me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick

Storm Front by Jim Butcher

Wish I read:

More of the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. I loved his first but could never find the time to pick up the rest in the series!

Tassamara Series by Sarah Wynde

Looking forward to:

Manners & Mutiny, Finishing School #4 by Gail Carriger

What I enjoyed about this year and what I would change:

The Horror Monday thing I absolutely love! I read and watch so much horror that I’m already into February for next year. I went to B&N a year or so ago and noticed that they really do not have much of a horror section. Pun intended, I was horrified! It made me worry about the authors that are in that genre. I love horror and I would hate to see it fade away. I read so much though that I thought having a specific day just for it would be perfect. Plus would help those that do NOT want to read about horror.

Also, Zen Wednesdays. It’s an easy post but looking back I’ve been able to share things that really do bring me a feeling of zen. I just hope that it brings you zen too!

As for what I would change… I’m introverted and I really need to stick my neck out there more. It’s hard for me but it’s hard for anybody! I want to start making and hitting goals for each week on visiting and commenting on other blogs and really getting out into the world. I love meeting people it’s just always been a bit hard for me to keep in touch. So between cyberspace and in the real world, it’s time to start doing just that. I’m going to hold myself to committing to other people and meeting more people every week!

That’s it for me this year. What are your plans for next year? Are there things you did or did not do or things you want to change for 2015?

Great post!! I love your honest reflection back. I would love to pick up The Dresden Files for a UF fix and also If Only, and believe me, I don’t read NA so you really swayed me on this one, lol. I like that you are keeping the features that you enjoy because blogging is all about the blogger first, and the community second. It has to be, unless you are a paid blogger and it’s your job.

I don’t read much horror anymore, but I think that the reason you don’t see a large section in the store is that many of its titles are absorbed into other sections: YA, sci-fi, thriller… I used to work in a large chain bookstore and I would sometimes scratch my head over the placement of books, and how one author’s books could be separated even though it was a similar style.

I’m making more changes on my blog besides no automatic memes and no blog hops or accepting ARCs. I’m going to make some personal challenges to try to achieve, plus I joined 2 Goodreads groups and will be participating in them. This past week I joined tsu and FictFact but I don’t do Facebook or Twitter. Go figure… I like being my own person!

I might not stop by that often, Christina, but I do read your posts every single day. I just don’t comment if it is a book I would not normally read but I’m still reading, never fear 🙂 Have a great New Year!
