~ It’s a chance to share news~

A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Ok… so I must admit something… It’s dreadful and I know some of you are going to yell at me.

I have started Christmas shopping!

Ok, ok… no evil looks! I love Christmas! I cannot help myself. What’s funny is that we never had good Christmases as children. I should really hate the holidays because all it brought on our house was fights, fights, arguments, and more fights! But I love to love the holidays!

From Halloween until my birthday at the beginning of Jan, I am the happiest person EVER! I get to read the scariest of the scary, my hubby and I go to see our “one” scary film of the year (he hates scary movies so that’s our compromise) and then Thanksgiving, and then Christmas! I love it! Yesterday I found myself looking at gifts and dying to start picking some up so I thought, why not!? Early is better than stressing out the week OF Christmas, right? Plus I paint… if I am going to send a painting it needs to be fully visualized and put onto canvas which takes FOREVER. Plus the drying… oy!

So… yes, I confess. I started shopping and although I love Halloween I cannot wait for Christmas!

What’s your favorite holiday? How do you get prepare for it?

IT’s COMING! It’s coming!!!

Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-thon is nearly upon us! Oct 18, 2014!

dewey1-1024x1024I’m really excited because for some reason I always get a lot done during Dewey’s 24 hour Read a thon. I set goals that I actually reach! Surprising, I know! I think it may be the fact that it’s only one 24 hour period. My hubby knows that he will have the pups fully that day, and he brings me coffee and tons of food 😀 I also normally make snacks ahead of time so I’m all set for a full 24 hours of nothing keeping comfy and reading, reading, reading!

Always a wonderful experience! Maybe I’ll be a cheerleader again this year. Means reading less but talking to people more!

I thought about not gifting but honestly I think it kills me more to NOT get gifts than to just do it. But none of our family is close so it’s one way that I can feel close to everyone. I saw that awesome graphic! Looking forward to it!

Oh I can totally get that. We used to do prezzies but these days there’s just too many of us with all the cousins (25 now I think?) and aunts/uncles (12 plus a couple extras). My mom and grams and I will do some very little things and stockings but that’s all since none of us really need anything and are always trying to “declutter” lol. It’s been working for us thank goodness.

Holy!!! No wonder Anna! I’m talking my parents and my sister and her two children and then the hubby’s sister and brother and his brother’s two children and one fabulous nana! Technically Nana is the hubby’s but I adopted her ;D So… yeah, we get presents for the children anyway so something fun and little for the parents makes me happy. I would spend all of our money if Paul didn’t hold me back! hhaaha

Great post today! I’m keeping a low profile this long weekend and doing “family time” since my son is home for 3 /12 days this weekend. I’m not posting until tomorrow.

My favorite holiday is Christmas. I’m sorry you don’t have good memories of that time of year. I have fond memories of my childhood Christmases and my own family’s. As a matter of fact, I married a guy who loves that time of year so we got married on Christmas Eve! He is a “purist” though, and would freak if I started shopping now. I understand though that starting early allows you to take advantage of sales, as stores frequently do that to pull you in.

Thanks for the tip on Lit Lovers, will check it out. Surprised that bloggers are having the scary readathons and challenges in September instead of October but I’m going to go look them over today.

I was a cheerleader for Dewey last year because I just can’t read for so many hours, physically, anymore so I don’t join in.

I’m interested in your painting– a hobby or your job? Do you sell them? Are any shown online?
Have a good rest of the weekend!

My bad memories just remind me how great I have it now! My hubby and I have made some new rituals and honestly I think I enjoy it even more because of that. We really make that whole week a special event for the two of us all the way through my birthday. Decorations go up the day after Thanksgiving and I don’t take them down until my birthday! It’s kind of a bitter sweet birthday present but it’s also kind of fun putting away new ornaments that we get for each other. I actually find a gift that I like, like last year was photo books and every gal in my family got one photo book and one lip gloss set. Makes it easy to shop but still fun!

I do sell them but I have been so behind. I haven’t gotten any new paintings done in a while! I’m going to start posting about them more starting next week. In the middle of a project now actually 😀

No, no, no, it’s not evil ! You’re just planning things in advance so the final last week won’t be a rush, good on you ! I’m sorry I won’t explore your blog more tonight but it’s 11PM and I’m tired – so I’ve added you to my Bloglovin feed. Have a great week !

No worries! Hell, I know I don’t spend enough time looking around at friend’s blogs. Thank goodness for Sunday posts 😀 At least one day a week when I make sure I get out and look around.

I did! It was a fun week with no stress. Love those weeks. The Dewey read a thon is amazing! Last time I only did 12 hours but still got a lot read and felt great! Hope to see you there! We can cheer each other on 😀

No dirty looks from me! I’m envious that you’re that on top of things! I’m figuring out how early I can put up Halloween decorations without it being too early. I figure anytime in September is okay right? I’m really hoping to do one of the Dewey read-a-thons when the Tornado is a little older. I love the idea of it. I’m reading Haunting of Hill House right now and it is fabulous! Have a great week!

I haven’t read it yet! I’ve seen the movie but didn’t realize it was a book so I’m doing the read a long. Super excited. That was one movie that stuck with me. Helped that Vincent Price was in it. Just love him!

September is perfect for fall / Halloween decorations! You’ll start seeing them in stores anyway so might as well snatch them up! I’m sad. We live in such a small town that no one goes trick or treating here. When we move that is going to be a criteria for the new house!

Tornado! That’s too cute! I call my nephew, who is three, the hulk! HULK, SMASH!
