Stars Amiss

She reached up to the sky

with salty tears in her eyes

and pulled a star from where it did lie

as she kissed the heavens goodbye.

She watched the sky turn gray

devoid of the stars that once did play

now sadly she gazed

up at the world no longer ablaze.

She turned over and shut her eyes

let herself drift into the night

where dreams of glimmering light

could still be with her, in her sight.
