Welcome to the new Book Blogger Hop!
9th – 15th – If you could have lunch with any living authors and/or book bloggers, who would you choose and why? (submitted by Kitty @ Vicarious Bookworm)
I am going to go two very different ways here by choosing two authors that could not be more different from each other. They are Clive Barker and Shel Silverstein.
I have been reading Clive Barker since I was 12. Maybe even prior to that but I especially remember reading his Books of Blood. My mom was already calling me strange at this point, and to be honest I wear the badge proudly! She never understood my love for Clive Barker as I don’t think many people probably do. He’s an artist. He’s creative and different and doesn’t mind being the outcast. How can this genius of a man be an outcast!? My mom certainly thinks he needs to be but for me, he is invited to breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Tea and crumpets?! I will figure out how the hell to make a crumpet just for you Clive!
As for the second, recently I have been writing more. I took a creative writing class and fell in love with it! I thought the deadlines would discourage writing but they actually put me to task and made me sit my butt in my computer chair and write! I loved it but sadly I was shocked when what I wanted to write was not working and I started coming up with children’s stories. Get your shit together brain! Write like Clive Barker. Like Stephen King! Come on, we love horror, what is your malfunction!? That is when I finally decided to stop fighting my brain and work with what it was doing. I wrote a story that got a few praises and a few criticisms but I feel great about it!
I think these two authors could give me wildly different answers for my writing questions. Also, I just find the both of them to be absolutely fantastic and would love to sit down for coffee with them.
I wrote all of that and just now thought to look up Shel Silverstein and of course he died in 1999. Ugh… screw it. I’m going with this answer anyway. Although had I opened it up to dead authors I would have had to mention my favorite Terry Pratchett. That man is a genius!
Now I’m going to go eat away my pain… cry.
Do you have a favorite author or blogger you would like to sit down with?
