“Isolation” depicts a bleak but recognizable future in which the fear of contagion reaches a fever pitch as a bacterial epidemic catapults the US into an apocalyptic crisis. Touch is outlawed. Mothers like Maggie bind their infants’ hands, terrified they might slip fingers into mouths. Gary, a Sterilizer, uses robots to scour the infected, avoiding all contact with human flesh. Trevor, the Chief Enforcer, watches, eager to report any and all infractions. One inadvertent touch will change all of their lives.

The sisters of Sea Haven, bound by the heart and the magical power of the elements, return in this soul-stirring new novel from the bestselling author of the Dark Carpathians…

For as far back as she can remember, Airiana Ridell has always been aware of her extraordinary gift. She can intuit revealing and illuminating “patterns” in the air around her-whether in a spray of mist, in billowing clouds, or in the dense swirls of an impenetrable fog. Her abilities led to her placement in a secret government training facility when she was a child, but everything changed after her mother was murdered.

Airiana fled the program, but she couldn’t outrun the desperate members of a shadowy cabal who want her, who need her, who will kill to get her. Kidnapped and held aboard a ship bound for dangerous seas, her only chance for rescue is Maxim Prakenskii. He has his reasons for helping her, but he isn’t about to reveal them to Airiana. Not yet. Not when the two are drawn together as moth to flame. Not when there are so many secrets yet untold that could shatter Sea Haven and all who reside there…

Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations.

First, she has no soul. Second, she’s a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette.

Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire–and then the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate.

With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible. Can she figure out what is actually happening to London’s high society? Will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Finally, who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart?

I like dystopian, but I’m going to have to choose the steampunk novel with hints of the paranormal. It sounds really interesting.

This steampunk is one of my FAVS! Sadly I haven’t had time to indulge in her other books but I’m going to make myself take the time! They are fabulous.

I like all three depending on the authors. I would choose contagion probably or christine feehan. I absolutely love her books.

  8. stacy

My poison is usually dystopian, but I have been trying to read more steampunk and Soulless has been on my TBR list forever, so I would definitely pick that one.

I would normally choose steampunk but I’ve already read Soulless (great book!) so I would pick dystopian

    • Christina

Have you read any more in the series? I keep meaning to and actually have them sitting on my bookshelf in my TO READ SOON section and still haven’t gotten around to them! Sigh!! I’m hoping, as I have yet to read The Giver, that it is just as good. Reading it for book club soon πŸ˜€ Good luck! Thank you for stopping by.
