Giveaway! A World of Fantasy Blog Hop

March 21, 2014 Giveaway 14

Welcome to our Meet and Greet,

our own version of a blog hop.
This is about Keeping the Magic Alive.
It’s important to me that our children remember how to dream and believe in magic.  The world is big and fast and somehow a lot, if not all, of the make believe has gone out of our daily lives.
I believe that’s why Harry Potter struck such a deep cord.  It’s about friendship, hope, loyalty and MAGIC!  It dares us to dream that anything is still possible. Young readers need to feel the magic and believe it can change their lives…that they are not alone in their thoughts, that the characters in the books we are writing for them can become their friends, their solace, their inspiration.
Pressed Leaf Publishing is hosting this Event for the reasons above and for these reasons below.

Let’s meet other Authors, other lovers of YA Fantasy.

Let’s sincerely meet someone new, another person on the Planet that has a Passion for the same thing you do.  Someone you can relate to.  Someone you may not have met had you not taken a moment to stop and look around their world and find out who they are and what they are dreaming of today.  Someone who may inspire you… if only by being a friend. And secondly, let’s bring in our audience. Blog hops are usually contained to bloggers, why not invite our fans and friends, all those YA Fantasy lovers to see what we have to offer.
giveawayI didn’t enjoy fantasy for the longest time. Now I can’t get enough of it! My first step towards terry pratchettappreciating fantasy was through Terry Pratchett. In my mind he is one of the most fantastic authors and has such a fabulous imagination that really I just can’t spread the word about his writings often enough! So! For this giveaway I’m giving away…
The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett!
One reason this book is so fantastic is because it is totally YA but even adults can enjoy it. It is one of my favorites and I re-read this series every year and sometimes twice a year just because it is amazing!
If you have already read this and would prefer another in this series, or another Terry Pratchett then that is fabulous also!
If you have not had the pleasure of reading Terry Pratchett and do not know where to start, here is a Guide to Reading the Discworld.

How to win?

Just comment below on if/why you enjoy fantasy and what you enjoy most about fantasy?
Please don’t forget to mention if you have read The Wee Free Men and what you email is so I can contact you if you win!
Good luck!

About The Wee Free Men:The Wee Free Men

  • Author: Terry Pratchett
  • 375 pages
  • Published August 15th 2006
  • by HarperCollins

“Another world is colliding with this one,” said the toad. “All the monsters are coming back.”

“Why?” said Tiffany.

“There’s no one to stop them.”

There was silence for a moment.

Then Tiffany said, “There’s me.”

Armed only with a frying pan and her common sense, Tiffany Aching, a young witch-to-be, is all that stands between the monsters of Fairyland and the warm, green Chalk country that is her home. Forced into Fairyland to seek her kidnapped brother, Tiffany allies herself with the Chalk’s local Nac Mac Feegle – aka the Wee Free Men – a clan of sheep-stealing, sword-wielding, six-inch-high blue men who are as fierce as they are funny. Together they battle through an eerie and ever-shifting landscape, fighting brutal flying fairies, dream-spinning dromes, and grimhounds – black dogs with eyes of fire and teeth of razors – before ultimately confronting the Queen of the Elves, absolute ruler of a world in which reality intertwines with nightmare. And in the final showdown, Tiffany must face her cruel power alone….

In a riveting narrative that is equal parts suspense and humor, Carnegie Medalist Terry Pratchett returns to his internationally popular Discworld with a breathtaking tale certain to leave fans, new and old, enthralled.

I have not read The Wee Free Men, but I would love to do so. I love fantasy; it is the one genre that really, truly allows the reader to escape into an entirely new reality. The reader becomes immersed in a world radically different from her own and must learn the new rules of survival. With a great author, the reader is transported on a journey unlike any other and emerges a changed person bright eyed and ready for the next adventure. michelle_willms at yahoo dot com.

I am so glad to be apart of this meet and greet blog hop. I have met so many amazing authors and bloggers! I have never read this book The wee Free Men, but it sounds like a great fantasy book to read. I love YA Fantasy, the stories are so refreshing and fun to read. I get lost in the stories and get to feel like a child again 🙂 Wish I would have been introduced to the world of YA when my grandson was younger…. I would love to read these amazing stories to him and help him to believe in magic! But there is something I can still do, that is to offer to read to little ones at my local library! I have so many wonderful stories I would love to share with children.

Thank you for sharing this book and helping to get it known for others to enjoy!
