Timber Nelson has recently returned home after serving two tours in Iraq. Suffering from PTSD, he’s a shadow of the man he was before his time in the military. Instead of learning to live with the nightmares he faced in the war, he drowns them in a bottle of Crown.
Katherine Pierce is an alluring woman with dark brown hair, tattoos, and a fiery attitude. Yet her history is one full of disturbing images that she’s been trying to run away from for the better part of six years.
Undeniable attraction between Timber and Kat reaches its peak and they both give in to the unquestionable pull.
Will Timber be able to save Kat from her past repeating itself?
And will they be able to soothe each other’s scars? Or will their old scars become new wounds?
This book is a stand alone.
Thankfully this wasn’t AS intense as I assumed it was going to be. There were some intense parts but fortunately the story is about the two main characters, Timber and Kat, and their ability and sometimes inability to live after some horrifying events.
I really like Kat. She seemed just like a girl that has been through some crap and has built some walls but instead of keeping everyone out she has a few friends that she is close to. She felt so genuine and very likeable. She tells Timber off in the beginning of the story and I just had my jaw on the ground, it was awesome. And even through some really tough things she is able to keep that spunk and attitude. I just really loved her.
And Timber has some issues to deal with as well. Stacy Borel gives these issues to us a little at a time but we can see how tortured he is, but again it doesn’t rule his life. Although it easily could have.
I felt that the plot was just the right pace. I knew when everything felt right that something had to happen and then BAM! It did! Although I was expecting it and I knew pretty much what was going to happen from the clues that Stacy gives throughout the story, I was still surprised at HOW things happen.
This is definitely NOT young adult. There are some sexy scenes in this and although they weren’t my fav scenes it showed how close Timber and Kat were getting. I loved how their relationship progressed and felt that the pace was beautifully timed and so true to what happens in actual relationships.
In short… fantastic romance with a bit of intense moments and some HOT sex scenes!
