American lass seeks brawny Scot...
As if being newly single isn’t brutal enough, Sloane Chatfield's friends are getting obnoxious about setting her up. When Sloane insists she's waiting for a certain sexy fictional Highlander to come along, her friends surprise her with a trip to Scotland to find her a new boyfriend. She’d rather have a root canal. But if she can find a Highland hunk to “break her heart” before her friends arrive…
In a remote Highland village, Galen Buchanan is struggling to keep the family pub afloat. Everything is falling apart, he’s running out of money, and now there's an opinionated American lass parked at his best table, driving him mad. But then Sloane asks Galen to be her pretend Highland boyfriend...and offers him enough money to save the pub. It’s only for a few days, he figures. What's the worst that could happen?

My Thoughts

I cannot believe that this book is over.

I can feel a book hangover in my future.

Why? Because this was awesome! So simple, unique, cute and quirky! I love Jessica’s writing! She also has a way of adding in sex scenes but not exactly making them so crazy that they make you think you’re reading porn! It’s a fantastic mix of romance with a little sexiness that kept me turning the pages with laughter and tears and then a sad face when I got to the end.

The premise is pretty simple. Girl loses guy then girlfriends want to hook girl up. Cause that’s what girlfriends do, right? Well, this gal, Sloane Chesterfield, does not want to get hooked up! She wants her last guy to love her!

She devises a fool proof plan that will keep her girlfriends off of her back! To go to Scotland and make a new guy up and then of course he breaks her heart and her friends will finally get off of her back to get together with some jerk.

Plans never go the way they are planned and that is what is SO great about this. It has such a great mix of her being a control freak but also totally naive. Her character was really well put together but also clueless. She has money but wants to help everyone. She’s just cute as a button!

Enter Galen Buchanan. Gorgeous in the ruggish, neanderthal of a man way. Built but stubborn as an ox! Everything about him screams that he is desperate for help but being the stubborn ox that he is, he will never ask for it! Then they meet and they hate each other! Of course right? The proposal is hilarious and again Julia London writes so well that I can imagine the look on Galen’s face.

The entire story is just so well done I did not want to put it down. My hubby started talking to me at a crucial point later in the book and I had to shush him. DO NOT interrupt me when I only have 5% left in a fantastic story!! He figured it out quickly when I couldn’t say anything because I was too busy crying.

In short: This is so adorable. I am glad this is the first of a series because I will most definitely make it my goal to read more of Jessica’s books. She has a flare that reminds me of P.S. I Love You and Leap Year smashed together.
