Claiming Callie – Part One
Her love of Michael Kors might be her downfall.
Callie Cartwright is a college senior on the verge of graduating and getting the job of her dreams. But her illustrious shopping habit and expensive tastes backfire when her future employer gives her an ultimatum. She has less than six months to lower her debt or she’ll lose the job she’s worked so hard for.
His secret crush may be his undoing.
Dean Michaels has everything going for him. He’s a manager at the local coffee shop, a sophomore in college, star of the university basketball team, and don’t forget, gorgeous. The only thing he needs is the girl of his dreams to make his world complete. And he’s finally ready to go after her. The only problem: it’s his sister’s best friend he’s crushing on. And all she sees in him is the love for a brother.
But desperate times call for desperate measures.
When Callie concocts a crazy plan as a way to make quick money and pay down her debt, Dean’s feelings go into overdrive. It’s time to show her how he feels.
And the plan he proposes, just might be the one to finally catch the girl.
*Claiming Callie is part one of a series of four serial novellas and is approximately 28,000 words in length (about half the length of a full novel).*
Just as I was really getting to the meat of the story…
Cliff hanger! Oy… I hate cliff hangers.
I especially hate cliff hangers when I’m really starting to enjoy myself and haven’t been paying attention to my Kindle percentage read. But with books that have extra chapters, stuff about the author, etc… in them, it is hard to know where the book ends anyway! So, I was totally taken aback when I reached the end.
And I have to say this… I’m upset.
This is a cute book. Has to do with a lot of shopping which I don’t totally get. I mean I know the names that are popping up on these clothes and bags but Callie has a serious addiction that I just cannot relate to. As much as you think that would make me dislike her, it actually helped me see her frustrating position. We all have a finite amount that we CAN spend but we have an infinite amount of wish lists!
And that is just the start of this really cute book.
The book is called Claiming Callie Part One and I really felt like it was a part one. There was stuff about the main characters, a bit of grief and frustration leading to some changes that Callie needed to make, which allows Dean to sort of weasel (that word has a bad connotation and his intentions are totally pure) his way into her life in a way that will ensure she does not get into any MORE trouble.
Because honestly this girl knows how to find trouble and it is hilarious. Well, some of it is. Some of it was dreadful. But all of it was super cute!
In short: Totally a summer, fun read! I enjoyed it much more than I thought it would and I was only sad at the end. I want to see the changes that I am sure are about to happen with Callie!
