23rd – 29th – When meeting with friends, do your discussions usually turn to books? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

This answer really depends on who I am talking with. I know so many people that don’t read at all, so we talk about the normal parts of life, family, children, DOGS, etc.

But, for those that do enjoy reading, I love discussing the latest books I’ve read. I love hearing their favorites too.

The problem I run into, is that I read horror. Like horrifying horror. The more horrifying the better! I don’t know many people that can keep up with those types of books, or that even want to. My hubby will listen to my fascination of the latest psychological thriller and he may even pick up the latest book that I’m thrilled about, even knowing I’m totally judging the book by it’s cover. But we love talking about books. He also tries to talk me into his Sci Fi world, and we normally just have to agree to disagree and love that we are both happy with our reading choices.

Then there’s the rest of my family and friends that think I have a bit of a screw loose. Maybe I do! All I know is that I am absolutely fascinated over people that screw up and sometimes turn their life around, sometimes they wind up dead, and they never get that chance! I don’t judge my family for their reading habits, or their lack of, and I know they honestly don’t judge me.

Although when I run into a book that I just love, I tell EVERYONE. Sometimes even people I don’t know. I just can’t help myself. I’m just so excited.

I just picked up another book at the library and this is why I love the library. We were able to discuss my latest fascination with Illuminae. Two of the librarians had not read it but were thinking about it. So of course I spent 30 minutes of their time describing why these stories are remarkably interesting and how they’ve stuck with me. That’s what happens when you get me started on ANY topic that I love though.

So, the short answer is yes. Yes, a lot of my discussions turn to books. I love books, how can they not?

Do you discuss books with your friends and family? Do you gush over the ones you love?

My dad and I love to talk books but the only other people I talk to about books are online friends! Even the friends I used to have never read books for fun!

I love this question. I have a few readers in my family, and the discussion usually turns to books when they come over. If I could get all of my friends to talk books all of the time, I would. 🙂

That’s lovely! I saw that you buddy read A Boy’s Life also. I need to find people to buddy read with! That sounds like fun.
