30th – April 5th – How many book clubs do you belong to? If you do belong to an in-person book club, do you have meetings in the day or evening? Do you meet at someone’s house or meet at a local restaurant or coffee house?  (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

There is a very simply answer for this one. None.

I did have a book club with my family but we were horrible about reading the books and picking books was difficult too. We could never find ourselves on the same page (ahhaha pun intended), or find the time to skype since we all live in different parts of the country.

I also tried an actual in-person book club. Sadly, they meet on Sundays in the early afternoon and the city is an hour away from my house. I went once, and while it was okay, I hated the book. I made myself read it, but not everyone had. It was weird but we got through the meeting. I guess book clubs aren’t just for reading but for meeting friends. I’m an introvert, so I’d rather just have my nose in a book!

I do belong to a few online book clubs though. I enjoy those the most, although I would love more of a dialogue. I guess that’s where being in person really does help.

Do you belong to a book club? How do you choose the books?

I would love to join an in person book club, but we don’t have any where I live. I’ve tried reading with groups on Goodreads, but all anyone ever says is “finished the book” or “liked it”. There never seems to be much discussion going on.

I’ve noticed that with online book clubs. Not sure how to get the conversation rolling along better. Maybe having a specific post for spoilery topics and questions, etc, would help bloggers. Still looking for that online book club that fits what I like and has some kind of discussion. On Facebook, there is a Life & Lit book club that does have a discussion on books, but mostly it’s just people answering the question. If that were continued and people responded to each other, it might be more interesting. I’ve only joined two discussions, so not sure how much people get into them!

I found a couple in my small town but they’re all super early. The online ones will have to work!
