26th – February 1st – Do you ever go back to older posts and change things? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

I’ve been blogging, on and off, for about six years. I’m horrible about changing graphics. I change them WAY too often. I also had a bit of a crisis with naming my blog. So, if you go way back to when I started, a lot of my graphics, lines and such have spiders and blood! I loved it, but it didn’t match what I was talking about on my blog. I loved my Horror Mondays, but I couldn’t keep up with it. I was reading way too many different genres to just have a Horror Monday, but not exactly enough to even post every Monday.

How my graphics have changed through the years:

As I figured out my content, and got to know what I wanted on the blog, my graphics changed again, and again, and again. My bohemian side started showing itself, instead of just my love for horror, so I changed my graphics to match that. A lot of graphics at this time have flowers.

Tons of flowers.

I don’t even really like flowers all that much. But these few, I just loved for some reason.

Then I finally started realizing who I was. It took so many years, many birthdays to figure this out. I’m a bohemian and I love horror. I enjoy psychological thrillers and YA romance. In other words, I’m a nut!

Fortunately, I was able to create some graphics, with the help of (love them), to work with what I needed! I had a focus, I had a blog name, I have pups, and reviews on horror, and ya romance! It’s like I have it all FINALLY in one place.

But, there are still six freaking years of posts. Here’s a post from November, 2012. I was starting to get a feel of what I enjoyed in reviews and created my own version of those reviews, with all the necessary book elements. I’ve slowly worked to reincorporate those posts and to reimage the graphics and such to make everything match.

I started doing Throwback Thursday, where I take a really old post and update the graphics, but also comment on my views of the book and how they have or have not changed. So, for the review in Nov 2012, I would type up a short throwback saying that I really remember this, which is surprising because I read it so long ago. I flew through this but I loved it. Then I would re-read my post and see if what I remember matches my review, and talk about that too. I don’t change my original thoughts, unless I see some glaring mistake (which I do, often!). I love seeing how my memory changes, sometimes for good, sometimes NOT, the essence of the books and my feelings towards it. Throwback Thursday allows me to go back to each post, one post a week at a time, and talk about them, while also updating the dang graphics.

Obviously this is a slow process, so I can’t wait to see what everyone else does to update their old posts!

And I love these new graphics too much to keep the old ones, even the spiders. They just match what I want this blog to be about. With these cute as hell pups, the bohemian graphics, and flowers. It just all comes together. Gotta make my old posts come together too!

Do you go back to your older posts to change anything?

I adore your graphics and knew right away when I saw them I would connect with your blog. Although given how much I like horror as well, I think I would have connected to the past spiders as well 🙂

Those spiders were so cute! But most people were like, why do you have spiders!? Ack! Puppies are a little easier to pet. Since I love playing in Photoshop and playing with these guys just made Photoshop even more fun! I have so many posts to update though. It’s crazy!

Do you go back and edit things? Or do like a Throwback to your older posts sometimes?

I really don’t go back and edit but this year might revisit a post of two. I love featuring new stuff too much and probably could benefit from going back and looking at some of the old ones.

I think it’s kind of fun. Except when I run into the older ones that look hideous and take more work than they are worth!
