Challenges! Do you stick with them?

This year I decided not to go completely insane with my reading challenges. I have a couple perpetual, some re-read, catch up on old stuff, and a challenge to sneak some classics into my reading schedule. Even as I’m typing this I’m looking at the calendar and asking myself how I’m going to do it all.

Last year I completely forgot about ALL the challenges. I did not finish one. Sigh.

I did finish a couple things like getting most of my Netgalley read and a few that had been sitting on my shelves for a while, but to be completely honest, it was only a few. I have books, and books, and books waiting to be read.

So, do you stick with  the challenges after you set it all up? AND the real question is, how do you find the time to read things like classics? I want to and finally did read Chaucer but that was the only English author I read last year and I had a beautiful list of the greats!

How do you do it all?

I don’t even do challenges, other than the GR one, because they just seem stressful. Plus I’m a mood reader, so planning out my reading doesn’t work. And I wouldn’t want to have to keep track of everything. I have goals that I created for myself to read more of certain types of books, but they don’t have set numbers, they’re official challenges, etc. It’s just that I actually want to read more of those things, so they’re like a reminder for me to do that.

All of your reasons are probably why I never finish half of the challenges I start! I have a nifty challenge addon with Ultimate BB that helps a ton though so I’m hoping this year will be different. If not, oh well, I’m still having fun!
