Sep 22nd – 28th:

In regards of Banned Books Week (www.bannedbooksweek.org/), what are your favourite books that has been banned or challenged? (submitted by Kristin @ Lukten av Trykksverte)

While looking through the list of Banned Books, I was surprised to see so many books that I love, banned. Goodreads has a great list of Banned Books. 454 in total! I have so many more that I can share, but I’ll just keep this list short and sadly not too sweet, considering they’re on it!

HARRY POTTER is the most scandalous of the bunch. How can this fantastic story of a growing boy be banned?! I think it causing an outrage that it’s banned. I just remember my daughter disliking the idea of reading. She read way beneath her age and level and then we were introduced to Harry Potter. This story changed our lives.

James and the Giant Peach. Here’s another that my daughter and I absolutely loved.

Stranger in a Strange Land. Why? Why is this on this list? With the exception of Harry Potter (of course) this is probably one of my favorite books!

Scarlet Letter was one of the first books I read in High School. I loved and hated this book but I think it adds food for thought! So important at the growing stage. Heck, it’s important when we think we have it all figured out!
