Bits of broken toy

May 8, 2012 Dark, Poetry 1

by Lilly Baxley

Shadowed your intent

Valued every penny you spent

Until your grand surprise

the secrets you keep

locked away

It waits to seep

until you no longer want them to stay

you buy something nice

happy to start

you label the price

and you say when it’s time to part

when you’re finished with your toy

you break it at the core

such a destructive little boy

how quickly you get bored.
